Welcome to Paly. By using our mobile application, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
By creating an account or using Paly, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Paly is a study companion app that helps students learn consistently through:
You must create an account to use Paly. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide a valid email address and be at least 13 years old to use the service.
You retain ownership of all notes, documents, and other content you upload to Paly. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process it through our AI services for the purpose of generating study materials for your personal use.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content. Do not upload content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights.
Study materials generated by Paly's AI (summaries, flashcards, quiz questions, daily chunks) are provided for educational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. You should verify important information independently and not rely solely on AI-generated materials for academic assessments.
You agree not to:
Study texts are a Paly Pro feature and are never enabled by default. To receive them you must text us your account's link code from the phone you want messages sent to; that is the only way we obtain your number. Standard messaging rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Paly message, or via Settings > Notifications in the app. Message frequency varies based on your study schedule.
Paly is free to use. Paly Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that adds study texts delivered to your Messages thread and the ability to text questions back to your study assistant.
Paly Pro is offered on two billing periods:
The price of each option, in your local currency, and the length of any free trial are shown on the purchase screen inside the app before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
Cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and the current period is not refunded or prorated.
Free trials. If a free trial is offered and you subscribe, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests are handled by Apple rather than by us, under the Apple Media Services Terms of Use. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Earning Pro. Paly also grants a free month of Paly Pro when you reach the monthly Paly Points threshold shown in the app. A month earned this way is not a purchase, is not auto-renewing, and carries no charge.
If a subscription price changes, we will give you notice and the change will not take effect until your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you do not want to continue.
You may delete your account at any time via Settings > Account > Delete Account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Paly is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any academic outcomes, missed study sessions, or inaccuracies in AI-generated content. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the preceding 12 months.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Paly after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
